Can anyone recommend a bite toy that lasts more than 5 minutes? I have a 4 month old puppy that can destroy any bite toy in less than 5 minutes...any suggestions would be appreciated. Rocket

Tugs shouldn't be used as toys, they are made for a specific use as a work reward. Use a hard rubber chew as the toy, something like a large black kong.

Yeah as previously stated I only use bite toys when training or as a reward. Have you tried a nylabone ?

Rocket, For training I suggest the ray allen's Basic Training Puppy Rag and Basic Training Puppy Bite Pillow, which is what I use. As far as giving your dog something to chew on... I suggest giving your dog RAW soup bones with the marrow inside.

Thanks for all the suggestions....for some reason this puppy is very picky, does not like any rubber or nylon bones or toys, loves shoes & sneakers & stuffed toys from the pet stores, but within 5 minutes, rips the stuffing out of them....hope that maybe shows some desire for bite work! Rocket

If he destroys his toys don't give him any. At 4 months he's teething. I'd get him a knuckle bone and let him have at it. Those latex filled toys will last longer but maybe later. Give him bones. Birdy...

The only things I've found that hold up are a Jolly ball (made for horses) and the squeeker toys that look like balls with feet, (I think it's something like bad boyz).  They look like little fat men, remind me of my uncle, actually.

ButI don't know if these will help since you say he doesn't like latex.

Since the puppy is teething, maybe try an ice cube and see how she does with that. Worked with mine, but I didn't leave her unattended til I knew she wasn't going to swallow it whole

Raw BEEF Bones are best IMO. They seem to really enjoy it most and can't splinter...no choking or calling ralph on the carpet, etc. I used to buy those raw hide (don't now) bones, weird doggie snacks like bird claws, pig ears, marinated lizards (ha) etc... that have BBQ flavor on them...and couldn't figure out all the brown stains on everything in my house...put 2 + 2 together and now I stay away from the messy things!
