Shipping puppy from Europe to US, advice please!! - Page 1

Hi 
I will need to ship a puppy from Italy to USA, I am told a puppy MUST have a rabies
vaccine to ship?  Under four months old the US does NOT require it, so why?

Also best airline?  So many, very confusing.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Delta and have a customs agent ready in case you need one and avail at the time of arri...,oh and open your wallet very wide

I know from the Netherlands and Germany they need to have rabies at 12 weeks when they going to fly further if they fly under that age they are too young
Depending on wich time the puppy will be send I know that Delta  has a stop of flying dogs in the summer other company's I don't know from Italie

Ask the person where you bought the puppy he needs to do this.
If the shipping cost are higher than fly yourself and take her as excess bagage it would be maybe cheaper

If the puppy IS YOUNGER than 12 weeks, it can be shipped without having received the rabies vaccine, but upon arrival it is NOT supposed to be brought into contact with other animals. (i.e/quarantene at owner's place). If the puppy is old enough for rabies, IT IS REQUIRED. Also, you must then wait 28 days after vaccine has been administered before you can ship.
 If I ever ship a puppy again, I will insist on shipping company to place one of the Lixit water bottles in container. The regular water container they sell for shippiong are about 1" deep and are a joke! My puppies arrived VERY DEHYDRATED on a direkt flight from Frankfurt to Houston. I would have hated to see how they would have fared on a longer trip. GOOD LUCK!
