Hello! I have been searching for a Black German Shepherd Labrador (not retriever) mix for a while and I haven't been able to find any breeders with this dog and finding this breed to adopt is even tougher. Does anyone, by any chance, know of somewhere to find this type of dog? I am not sure if online searches are the most efficient finding tool.

Thank you immensely!

Have you tried your Local Shelters?   I haven't heard of people breeding the two breeds together on purpose?  Not in my parts anyways..................

I had just that litter about 5 years back,
an Oops litter with my shepherd Mira and my yellow lab Big head Harold!

Here is a picture of one, they were all black and beautiful>all 11 of them!

I have tried looking at shelters, aspca, etc but no luck, unfortunately.

Those puppies are SO adorable. I think this is the perfect mix for me. Looking for a trainable, lovable, running companion! In case you have another 'oops' let me know!! :-)

Keep your eyes open on local Craigslist.  These are the two most common dogs in the U.S., there are lots of "oops" litters and people giving pups away to a good home or selling them for a very low fee.

Surprises me that you can't find one - they pop up at our shelters left and right...

Do a google search on shelters in your area - there are more then you think! I had a friend looking for a Saint a few months ago and was surprised by all the shelters around. There is at least one in every county.

You could get a black German Shepherd and the general public would think it's a Shepherd/black lab mix regardless lol.    Not sure why anyone would be doing this "breeding" on purpose though.  Keep checking every couple of weeks at different shelters throughout your state/surrounding states.

With so many designer dogs these days surely you could find a ( LABRASHEP ) but be prepared they will be expensive more so than a black German Shepherd.

Sorry I am way over designer dogs
Cavoodle,
Labradoodle,
Pugalier,
Maltapoo and the list goes on, All cross breeds but they bring them to the vets with exotic breeds and I put them all down as cross breed (saying it out loud )

They charge way more than I can get for a German Shepherd puppy with a great pedigree and registered with the Canine Council.

Actually, I called mine Shepadors, both mom & dad were OFA good hips & elbows, they went
to very good homes, and after they were all gone people were calling to see if I was going to repeat the litter, I was like...no....I don't think so!

I saw a show on animal planet that had a lab/shepherd cross that they bred intentionally to be used as a service dog, it was exciting to see what my pups were going to look like all grown up, the dog in the on tv was all black, and rather tall, handsome and well-behaved.

Mira will be 11 years old in December and big head Harold is 7 and liv'n life with a family that has 3 little kids to dote on him!

I don't know where you are but I see them all the time on craigslist and when I used to rescue, in shelters.  Keep looking, you will find your puppy!   I would also try petfinder.com
