Hi Arrakis, I am from Montana and I feed raw. Prior to that my dogs were alot more itchy all year and I tried just about every dry dog food there is on the market. I do find in the summer starting around the end of July and thru August they itch more than the rest of the year, even on raw, but the rest of the year almost no itching. I think it is the low humidity, hot temps and possibly something in the dirt as there is alot of clay in this state. Also they tend to blow coat around this time so the dead loose hairs may play a role. I think the raw diet has helped them alot. Nancy

One option that might be great for you is The Volhard diet. You can order it off of their website...You can buy the box which has the "a.m. porridge" and the "p.m. crumble". The only thing you add in the a.m. is water, yogurt, & veggies. For the p.m. you just add ground beef or ground chicken and a dash of water. All the nutrients, herbs, vitamins etc. are already done for you...it's great and the dogs love it. Their website also has a vast amount of knowledge. Good Luck!

Trailrider, We were there until the end of July. I didn't find it really hot but the air was drier than I'm used to. We stayed on the edge of the Bob Marshall Wilderness and the largest town we went to was Seeley Lake. I brush my dogs a couple times a week as that was the rules when I'm with my parents and since I go to school it was the request of my room mates. I don't give them many baths, so I know that's not the cause and their coats are fine, not dry or extra oily at all. Thanks for the pointers. Arrakis Cherub, I'll go check out Volhard's website.
