I belong to United Schutzhund Clubs of America. There are very few conformation shows to choose from. Does anyone know if I can attend a conformation show under WDA?

I know USA won't recognize titles earned, but if I were to earn a show rating under an SV judge, would it count?

I've had an SV Judge sign and place titles, dentition, and confirmation ratings on UScA books in the past.
I don't think that you have to be a member of GSDCA-WDA to participate in anything other than the Sieger Show
I'm sure that you'll get the info soon on the post here.

YEs you may, I have done so (I am a USCA member, I attend WDA shows).  As long as it's a club level show WDA does not require membership.  And yes the show cards must be USCA recognized if they were given by and SV judge, which I believe is *always* the case with WDA shows. I was told I can get an SG show card under and SV judge at a WDA show and use it for a USCA breed survey.

I believe the same is true for titles.  One of my dogs did a BH under an SV judge at a WDA trial and then did a SchH1 at a USCA trial under a USCA judge.  My SchH1 may not be recognized by an SV judge but the USCA trial had no problem with my BH.  I have both scorebooks and just photocopied the BH from the WDA book and tucked it in the USCA book.  USCA's new rule makes it sound like you cannot *have* multiple scorebooks but that's BS anyone can have as many scorebooks as they way, it's a free country.  You just cannot *present* multiple scorebooks at a USCA trial.  They won't recognize the WDA scorebook itself but cannot ignore SV titles/show cards.

I second what VKGSDs states but would add that titles earned by USCA conformation judges are only recognized by USCA and noone else. That means any show title given by a USCA judge is not recognized by the SV and is useless for a breed survey and any breed survey issued by a USCA judge is not recognized by the SV. So you see USCA conformation judges are really not SV judges, only in thier little world. Aside from this I really do compliment USCA for thier judges program both working and conformation, I just wish USCA would play nice with others. Hats off to you afwark15 for showing your dog,as conformation titles are part of the total package of what a German Shepherd dog is required to have. If you do not have show and working titles your breeding program it is not a responsible one as envisioned by the founders of the breed. Having said that, I would like to see more working lines in the ring as I think it would improve all GSD's.

under USCA judges, there are some that are SV judges and from time to time they will bring in others from Germany, so some are recognized by the SV , i know as i ask SV. there is a probation period , so a Judge in the probation period ( 3 years) can do sch titles only in his country and show rating , but are not aloud to KKL, till, there 3 years are up.what i would do is stick with a SV judge from germany to make sure. Ohio get alot of SV judges come in  for there trials.
if you contact the SV they can also give you a list of approved Judges.
i have not done any WDA shows but i am planing one this year.

Thanks for the info guys!

One more question....Does anyone know if Johannes Grewe or Dieter Oeser is "working line friendly". I just want a fair look at my boy without being pushed to the back just because he is not black and red.....

Yes, I hear Johannes is, and is also big on temperament.  I'm going to a show/trial he's judging in April.  We'll be showing three working line dogs, doing a breed survey with a working line, and an AD and BH with a working line (<- that dog will breed survey within USCA so I don't care about the non-SV designation).

yes , Johannes likes both show and working lines so no problem there , he is also pretty fair judge, so if you are not the best at showing, he will tell you to get more training in a nice way , he is a very nice judge, he does not like fat dogs and will tell you,he also likes very sound minded dogs, have not gone under the other judge.
