My malinois female Banshee has been drinking too much water for the last 17 days.First day,I thought it was just coincidence but when it lasted for another 2 days I took her to vet as I suspected it might be Pyometra. The vet did the ultrasound and find out uterus and urocyst were slighty rough. He gave us antibiotics and told me to bring Banshee for a check up when she finishes antibiotics. She started to drink usual amounts of water the very next day.She took her last dose on Sunday. On Saturday I realized she drank a little bit more then usual, the same on Sunday but not too much.We went for a check up on Monday, ultrasound showed that everything is all right. On Monday evening Banshee drank more than usual again, the same on Tuesday so I called the vet again to make an appointment.Today he did ultrasound again, everything is fine - uterus and urocyst as well - normal size,no liquid inside, temperature is normal. He did also blood tests - level of sugar was normal, kidneys, liver, pancreas as well.
Banshee behaves as usual, she eats well, she is temperament. She is fed the same food, same amount,no loss or gain of wieght.
Any ideas what might be behind it?

Did the vet do any labs?  I would consider doing a basic chemistry, urine for keytones as well as a fasting glucose.  Is she urinating alot in conjunction with drinking alot?

What is too much water, what signs indicate that it is too much?

He did test to check glucose - the result was all right and gave me a piece of paper /don´t know the word for that in English,English is not my mother tongue / to put it in her urine and bring it to him. She isn´t urinating a lot.

Well,in general she does not drink much - not more than a liter a day plus the water she gets in her food /she is fed Happy dog - Profi Krokette 26/16,I add water before feeding, about 0.75 l/.
Now,she drinks at least 2 liters.

On the average, a healthy dog drinks about 1/2 to 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight per day.

a liter a day is too little that is what is not normal, during summer time my dogs drink much more than that, we put water in a 4 liter container and fill twice a day, no dog drinks all the water in the container and before it does we throw remaining water and refill. I can estimate that the quantity which it drinks per day is not less than 3 liters.

P.s: temperatures here in summer range between 28 -38 Celsius, 82-100 Fahrenheit

My GSDs drink more - about 3 liters a day including the water they get in food. They have water in their bowles available all the time, water is changed twice a day. Banshee and her half-sister Afra from the same mother drink less. They have been drinking less than my other dogs since they were puppies,Afra turned 6 in August, Banshee 4 in July.We have temperatures from 26-33 degrees Celsius in July and August, this week the temperature is about 24-25 degrees Celsius, pretty nice for this time of year,we have mild climate in Slovakia.
