So far I have had good luck with Trifexis (a pill) that covers fleas, heartworm, and intestinal parasites.  Florida fleas are a tough bunch and will drink Frontline, Advantix, and other brands like water and continue to exist on dogs.  Believe me, I tried them all.  Comfortis is another brand and found in Trifexis.  Good luck......

Also be sure to treat your car for fleas if you take your dogs with you...

I have buyer from my last litter whose previous dog died while on comfortis. She did some research and found some very alarming side effects. She actually having a very hard time finding something natural and effective, so if anyone has suggestions, I'd love some for her.

I don't have flea problems with my GSDs - I use frontline or other topicals without an issue.  But this year for the first time, I'm  having a flea problem with my chihuahuas.  I've used frontline on them, and then flea spray when that didn't work.  I've sprayed the carpets in the house and frequently washed their beds/blankets/dog beds.  Still, they have live adult fleas.  These are tiny dogs, the smallest is only 1 lb and the largest 5 lbs.  I don't want to put more topical on them - any ideas about a safe way to get rid of the fleas on tiny dogs and keep them gone?

My way has always been to DIP and sponge the dog. On the SAME day I have an exterminator come in and go over the entire house and area.
Havent had fleas in over 30 years, but I guess it depends where you are.
Dip solution was KEM DIP mixed with water. VB

VonIsengard, I too have read some very disturbing research on Comfortis. I have in the past used it as a one time
flea killer (like a long lasting capstar) when we lived in FL. I used that in conjunction with frontline plus and DE

Luckily, we have not had a single flea here in NC for the past 2.5 yrs.

If you wanted to go all natural, DE works awesome.

ok, if DE works awesome, then why use it in conjunction with frontline and capstar or other oral/topical preventatives?  just curious.
