hey guys....my dog is nine years old and has had a bump on her head for about six months....its the size of nickel it doesnt hurt her when i touch it and you can move it around....i first noticed it when i went to go pick her up from the grooming place so i think maybe when they were shaving her head the pulled a hair and maybe that's why the bump is there and now i saw another one when i took her back.....any ideas and how to cure it

It sounds like a cyst.

Our dog is 11. He is not a GSD, but he does have a fairly large lump on his belly, as well as smaller ones scattered around his body. They are squishy and do not hurt him. Our vet says it is just fat deposits, and I know several dogs with the same thing.

It sounds like a sebaceous cyst to me, too. If they are filled up, they can feel hard but moveable.
Have a look here:

If it is hard like a irregular mass and keeps on growing, consult your vet.

Sounds like a S. C. Also there is a thread on here about them. Can't remember the time frame or title but you should be able to search/find it.

Can you squeeze some "gunk" out of it or not. My male has a few and at first I was thinking of having them removed. But since they don't bother him there's no need for unnecessary surgery.

My male shepherd suffered from sebaceous cysts for quite a few years. They never really seemed to bother him, but looked painful to me.  After finding a small one on my 2.5 year old female's back one day- I started researching natural remedies for them.  I came across quite a few references to using turmeric powder mixed into the food each day. I started my female on a sprinkling of turmeric powder every night, and haven't found another cyst on her since.  According to my holistic vet, turmeric has great anti-inflammatory properties. It seems to be working for me.
