Hi,

My dog just recently had tick fever & has been treated for it. About two days ago, that is after over a month of his treatment for tick fever, i got him to the park & was playing ball. After 2 or 3 laps, my dogs zooms like a rocket at the other end of the park for the ball & I suddenly see him falling down on his hind legs for atleast 10 secs at a stretch, as if dragging his hind legs. He must have been in a lot of pain cuz he started limping on his hind legs. I am not sure what this was, a spasm or joint problem. But my vet said that I should not have made him run cuz its not been much time since he had tick fever as tick fever attacks the muscles & hind legs. It could lead to paralysis.

Is it a fact true? Does tick fever actually lead to paralysis if the dog is excercised just a little after the treatment?

I really need your advise in this matter. Anyone who had gone through such a problem, or knows about someone who has had such a problem, please leave your comments.

Have him checked for heat stroke - give him a full check up - when they get heat stroke, any organ could have suffered lack of oxygen, but the symptoms is usually weak legs,or unable to get up or move erradically...Good luck

my dog was diagonosed for tick fever & has been treated with it. the vet simply said that he wasnt supposed to be excercised.  so while i made him run, i think it was ignorance on my part. she said today that he shud go thru the same treatment again to get rid of the problem. i m not sure if its tick fever that made him drag his hind legs after running or was it something else.
