Whew! What a long day. I'm an AKC club member since I live in a state that has NO working dog clubs or Schutzhund clubs either so I have little option to involve my dogs in any testing or training suitable for German Bred Dogs. But our kennel club had our annual dog show today and for the first time in our history. had judges and goats, sheep stock come in from out of state offering AKC fuction herding evaluation testing.
Well I brough in two of my dogs but with the line up they had and me being the last one to register, they only had time  to test one of my dogs (their last dog to test for the day before they heading back home) and since my dogs had never seen sheep or goats before, I chose to have my female testing first. First they did the herding instinct testing (ten minutes), and she QUALIFIED! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
and they agreed to stay and let her do the "Tending" testing with the 10 sheep and she double QUALIFIED, I guess she will be awarding some type of AKC Herding Certificate or something since she was one of the few dogs to qualify for both.
Can anyone help me out that knows exacting what this means with the Akc?
They all sure seemed impressed and I have been told to take her further in herding in two out of state upcoming trails? meets?
This is all so new to me, I was just there and signed her up but don't know much about AKC events or qualifications?
Thanks in advance,
a very tired dog mama longggggggggggg day.

Congrats!
The AKC has a rulebook about all the herding requirements and titles, you might find everything you are looking for in there: http://www.akc.org/pdfs/rulebooks/RG9001.pdf .
There is a little bit of history on that at the AKC website : http://www.akc.org/events/herding/getting_started.cfm

If you google herding events in your area you might find more. I wouldn't hesitate to contact a judge or herding club for more info.

Great job!

Herding is a ton of fun and if you are lucky enough to be close to someone that give lessons, you should go fo it!

You should get a Herding Instinct Certificate.  Congrats on getting started!
