Kelly M Shaw

I would like to know if anyone has these in their kennels?? or have used them and didn't like them?? Would like some input on it before I go out on a limb and buy it, then hate it afterwards. I would like something that is softer than hard concrete, so I saw these rubber pavers at Menards. Thanks in advance...

Stall matting works great.  My female destroyed anything "softer."  Good luck!

Hi Kelly,
I have not used the pavers but have used rubber horse stall mats (4' x 6' x 3/4" and weigh 110lbs ea.). Most larger feed stores carry them.
I love them.
They are easy to clean (not so many seams) and hard (almost impossible) for the dogs to lift up. They are also cheaper in cost per square foot.
These mats also come in a thinner thickness, but I would not recommend them because they are lighter and easier to move around.

Hope that helps, Good Luck.

It's actually quite durable/hard but not as hard as cement. Just want to know if anyone has used them before for kennel flooring and liked them, and/or if their easy to sanitize. Thanks Dawgone!!!

OMG C, how in the heck do you move the mats to clean under them, etc?? or you don't do that??

K,
Yeah, they are a real B**** to move around.
I usually roll them up (with much grinting, one side at a time) to clean under them or lift a corner (with even more grunting) and slide them out of the way.
Also, since they are in the inside area I don't have to move them very often because the dogs don't potty on them.

How big are the pavers you saw at Minards?

The paver's are 12"x12" and are .99 cents each. On some of our dogs I wouldn't do their whole kennel, but others I probably would. It's pretty tough rubber, almost like a Kong toy if not harder.

Kelly, I built an inside kennel using the horse stall mats. I filled in the seams with silicon caulk. When I moved it, there was nothing that had leaked through.

What surface will the tiles be on. I like them and can think of some uses, but it's going to get old pretty quick if you have to move them on a regular basis to clean underneath.

My kennels right now are on the ground. I have some that are cemented and some that are not. I'm thinking of having them on the ground, but I'm up in the air about it right now. Nothing is set in stone yet.

I wonder Rik if he could use the silicone caulk on the pavers like you did on the mats, lots more to caulk, but I wonder if it would work??
