GSDtravels

by GSDtravels on 12 April 2011 - 20:04

I was raised on a variety of foods some may consider strange or even gross.  I love liver and one of my favorites is poultry liver dredged in flour and fried with onions, celery, salt and lots of fresh cracked pepper, YUM!  About the only things I won't eat are brains and tripe.  Liver is a staple in my house and there are times that I even share with Drake, LOL.

Dang...GSDtravels.... you made me HUNGRYYYYYYY.....yum Love liver too, and dont forget the mash patatoes with it!

Deanna, dont cook the liver. Put it in the oven on low temp, covered with garlic powder and some spritzers of Maggi (from Knorr). Then it smells more like you are taning steak.

When I was a kid my father and  a friend used to  hut Raccoons for their pelts.  Usually it was just a matter of skinning them and stretching/drying the skins for sale... but I remember one day that they cooked up a few for the dogs.  They set up a fire out by the barn and cooked a kettle of coon... the taste was great... the  smell... well one o' those you'd as soon forget.

Oh, also don't try to cook down Maple Syrup indoors if you value the wall paper and paint on your walls... it definately steams the paper off the walls.. just ask my mom!

I think I made a mistake simmering it in a pot...I'm ruined, I do not think I will feed liver again unless I feed it raw...: )

Ruger!

I can relate. Posted a couple weeks ago my experience feeding what I thought were "small portions" of raw to my three. And to make matters worse, I wasn't home the next day but came home to "IT", dogs were throwing up and diarrhea and at times both at the same time. WHAT A MESS!

Don't you cook and eat liver yourself about once a month?

by jmopaso on 14 April 2011 - 01:04

Feed it to the dogs raw.... cook it for yourself.. with onions.
