I would request the gsd specialists on this board to write in their comments about this dog. Thanks PS: he is in the latest pictures with the name "maxwell"

yes, gsdfan, its mine! I am just looking for a public view about him. Although I love him, I just wanted to know if he's good enough for breeding.

Where's his pedigree? What lines, he looks Am bred (AKC showlines) to me, but I think you are from europe so I'm probably way off. Theres alot I learned from my first GSD's; my female, who has many AKC OB titles herself, who I planned to breed, didn't pass OFA so I had her spayed. I thought she'd be a great bitch for breeding, but the more I learned about the breed I realized she was far from breeding quality (if she had passed OFA). Although she is gorgeous and has drive to die for, when I began doing SchH with her I realized she had a major self confidence problem and didn't like loud noises. It wasn't much of an issue since she was already spayed, so I didn't have my heart set on SchH titling her, we are just having fun. Some of these issues may have been avoided by starting her at a younger age, but I am confident that her mediocre pedigree is mostly to blame. Her motherline had been unproven with regards to titles for generations, and although further back are some notable dogs, there progency was left to produce without proving that they themselves were breed worthy. Therefore without a pedigree or titles and simply just a picture to evaluate no one can really give you a worth while answer to your quesiton. I am no "expert" so perhaps you should wait for some to reply. Regards, Melanie

A photo will not tell if this dog is breeding quality. Temperament, movement, working ability and health are more important than how he looks in a 1 dimensional photo. I've been in GSDs for over 20 years and I'm far from an expert. Get your dog to some shows and find out from some judges the story on maxwell. For the record, I didn't see a photo of Maxwell.

OK. After looking, he does look a little weak in the jaw/muzzle area.

Weak in the muzzle, neckline and chest. I wouldn't see him as a breeding speciman in my eyes, just from look, would like to know temperment, ability and moveability. Would like to see pedigree and know of any accomplishments he has? Kari

I do like his rear angulation, as it is closer to the old world type. However, I do agree with Sue-Ann that the jaw-muzzle area seems slight for a male GSD. It is just my opinion, but I think that his chest is a bit shallow and his neck is too long and too vertical. But, he also appears to be very young in this picture, and one (1) picture never tells the entire story. To this end it is far better to have a conformation judge evaluate this male at stand and then in motion rather than rely on an evaluation from all of us on the messageboard. Bob-O
