What do they base it on?

I don't know what exactly you mean but the dog does some bitework then they messaure the dog, Weigh the dog, then check the dogs teeth (probably NOT in this direct order) They checkout to see if the dog is indeed the GSD standards. If the dog does well.. the judge will give you a KKL1 if the dog is over sized or too fat (over the standards weight) then the judge will give you a KKL2. I'm sure that other members here like Sharyn would tell you how breed surveys goes.

We have a trial, conformation show and breed survey this weekend. In order for any GSD to try a breed survey they must first meet these conditions: They must be titled at least to the level of SchH 1 or HGH; They must have the German SV "a" stamp or the OFA passing rating on hips; They must have completed an Ausdauerprüfung....the 12 mile endurance test; and They must have a conformation show rating of "G" or better. All prerequisite titles, the AD and the show rating must have come from a Judge recognized by the host organization and the SV in Germany. In order for the dog to actually "stand for exam" the dog must pass the performance test. This is bitework and consists of the "attack on handler out of the blind" and what is commonly referred to as the "courage test" or long bite. The dogs who pass this will then be subjected to gaiting, teeth check, testicles for males, weight and height measurements and the judge will record all this information in facts and his/her standardized verbage on the required paperwork. The purpose of the breed survey is to provide a selection tool via a rating of Kör Klasse 1 or 2. To obtain a rating of KKL1 the dog must meet very high standards, can not have certain dentition problems etc. Weight and an out of shape dog can play into the rating, but generally, it is based on other facts, not this. None the less, one should never show a dog in poor condition, nor go for a breed survey if one cares about the rating to be earned. I hope this helps. sharyn

Does SchutzhundUSA recognize GSDCA WDA breed surveys?

by hodie on 20 June 2006 - 23:06

Veronica, NO! United Schutzhund Clubs of America do not recognize WDA period. Stupid, but that is it. It may not matter, depending on what you want to do with any given dog.
