Wolves are not domesticated.  I can only think of one reason someone would breed a dog to an undomesticated "wild" canid.  Same reason some people insist on owning pet tigers or leopards.  STATUS

been there done that. not on purpose. took in a rescue from a kill shelter that turned out to be one. tried to rehab her. they make terrible pets. She was sweet as she could be and VERY clingy to me. aggressive to other animals. ok w/ people but very prey driven, wouldn't trust around kids. incredibly difficult to keep in crate or anywhere - separation anxiety and escapism. beautiful animal. But not for me. don't breed them. don't buy them. rescue one if you must, but be prepared to build a fort knox style enclosure for them or risk them getting out and going after your neighbor's stuff (dogs, cats, cattle)...and you eventually. not recommended. you need northern breed experience first - try a regular husky - before getting one. And even then, they are way worse than any husky. for the most part. Sure there are exceptions. But most end up destroyed or in a cage for life.
