My females 8 puppies are just over 6 weeks old, she is more than happy to remain & feed them but I feel that they are now starting to drain her. She still has lots of milk  and will stay & feed them as often as I would let her BUT I have been keeping her away and only letting her with them 2 or 3 times a day.Tonight I will keep her away from her babies and I feel so bad.

Am I doing the right thing or should I leave her with them as long as she is willing?

My other females are letting me know long before this that they no longer wish to be with their little family and I have been waiting for her to let me know that she has had enough but it has not happened.

My puppies are 6 weeks old now, they are eating puppy food 3X/day, and I put their mom with them once/day for an hour or so, they get a snack and some discipline from her, otherwise they don't need her anymore.

The puppies at that age should be eating solid food three to four times a day and able to drink water.  If they are doing that, take mom away.  If not start now.  At that age I only allow mom around the puppies a few times a day and she is usually almost dried up by now.

They have been eating 3 meals a day for 2 weeks now.

I didn't hear her at all last night and the puppies were quieter also, they only had 1 hyperactive session about 2am. I think I am going to be sleeping better now.
