I think it would depend on whether the gene is carried on the X or Y chromosome. If it is carried on the Y, then only the father can transmit it.

If you do some googling you will find a lot of studies that state they believe it is polygenic and carried by both parents.

Sorry, I didn't read all posts on this thread so I apologize if the answer is ther already. I want to know what everyone thinks about if a breeding produces (one) Crypt then would you not breed that pair again?

Not a slam or anything, but WHY didn't you research the kennel (any kennel) on-line before-hand? Just curious. For future reference, please check the "Buyer Beware" thread on this site. Just plug in the topic title in the search function.

Mystere,

I do agree with you about researching a kennel and I will admit that I did not research the kennel other than looking at their description of their operation and the pedegrees of their dogs.  I spoke to Wayne Curry prior to purchasing the dog and felt that he was an honest businessman and decent breeder.  My problem with him is that he sold me a dog with an obvious flaw at the same price that he sold all his other puppies.  It is specifically shown on his website the rigorous screening that they supposedly give all their puppies and if that were true, my dog would never have been sold by Kraftwerk or at least have been sold at a discounted price.  No matter how much research you do, and no matter how much care you take to try to make an informed decision, there is always a chance of a problem.  If Wayne Curry was an honest and forthright person, he would be willing to at least communicate with me and work something out.  All I wanted to do by posting this information was to let anyone who is contemplating a purchase from Kraftwerk to be cautious and to let them know what to expect if something did go wrong.

I can tell you that I love my dog and he is truly an amazing animal.  Had it not been for his flaw and the subsequent treatment that I have received, I would probably be one of Kraftwerk's "satisfied customers".  In a way I glad that I'm not so at least I can alert others and maybe save someone else some grief.
