Anyone have experience with Kraftwerk K9?  I purchased a puppy from them and it has a genetic problem that would be easily recognizable (cryptorchid).  When I received the puppy (shipped by air to me) I really liked it but my vet pointed out the problem right away.  Wayne Curry said that if I kept the puppy we could wait to see if the problem resolved itself but 9 months later it is still there.  I have written and called Kraftwerk but basically I am being ignored.

This is a GENETIC problem and the parents of my puppy are still being bred.  Although I like my dog and would never part with him (it) I feel that this kennel is a ripoff.  They don't care about their customers, even though they charge premium prices for their dogs.  They don't deserve to be in business.

ANYONE LOOKING FOR A GERMAN SHEPHERD SHOULD LOOK ELSEWHERE.  This breeder is not ethical!!!!

the greatness of a breeder is not in the question if he ever breeds any problems
the greatness of a breeder lies in how he handles/solves these problems

You are exactly right.  By not responding to me, Wayne Curry shows that he has a total disregard for his customers.  The dog I got from him is really quite amazing in appearance and were it not for the cryptorchid condition, I would be very satisfied.  My position with Wayne is that I paid a premium price for a premium puppy and it shouldn't have been sold as a premium puppy with an obvious flaw.  All I was requesting is a partial refund.

From Wayne's actions and checking the Kraftwerk website regularly  I have come to the conclusion that the company, while breeding some good looking dogs, is basically a glorified puppy mill and should be avoided by anyone looking for a quality dog from a breeder that is ethical to deal with.

 Tashal,

It is too bad you did not come here prior to purchasing a pup. If you would have spent any time here, you would have quickly learned that this person has MANY, MANY complaints for a variety of issues. As for his regard for clients.... he has none. It is about one thing and one thing only for some, and you unfortunately purchased from the king of them. Google him. Search here. For now, love and enjoy your dog.

There is NO SUCH THING AS A PREMIUM PUPPY EXCEPT TO PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SCAM AND OTHERS WHO ARE SUCKED INTO SUCH CLAIMS. There is always a possibility that some issue will arise with a pup who has to develop over the next year or so.

Please, please, please get your dog DNA tested for JRD as well. You can get him tested through www.dogenes.com. They are the only ones doing this test. One of the members of my club just lost their pup from Kraftwerk for genetic kidney issues.

sorry to hear that!

Another reason never to buy a puppy without visit to the breeder!

Unfortunately the problem of Cryptorchid can be in any bloodline on earth and can appear in any such breeding by any kennel in the world.

THE problem is   WHO YOU BOUGHT IT FROM and HOW THEY HANDLED the COMPLAINT>>

HOPE IT GETS remedied.

IT IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO PAY THAT KIND OF PRICE AND LOSE $$$$$$$ , even though you love the animal...it is not about LOVE>..it is about making a decision to admit they sold you a NOT DESIREABLE GENE play in your pup and DO SOMETHING TO REMEDY IT>>

You cannot say   NEVER breed that pair again...as HODIE stated...IT can appear in any breeding.

Im not defending the kennel as I have never done business with them personally.  And Im sorry you are haviing problems with your dog but did you go to the kennel, get offsite references, etc etc before you bought your dog?
Ive had personal experience with cryptorchidism so Im very familiar with breeders who try and ignore the issues. If you think he is the only breeder who wont tell you about this, your wrong. Most breeders that I have dealt with over this exact same issue wont openly acknowledge they have produced it or even have a clue if they have. If it were me Id take the dog back myself and demand it be corrected. The fact that you wont, tells them you may not push for them to rectify the siuation. Paying more for a dog means nothing if the breeder wont stand behind what they bred. This lesson was learned the hard way.

I understand that genetic problems can present at any time during an animal's life and it is an obvious risk that you could purchase a dog with a genetic problem from any legitimate breeder (or any source for that matter).  The issue to me is that Wayne Curry/Kraftwerk K-9 sold me this puppy with a flaw that was easily identifiable.  I am not even upset that the dog was for sale but it should have been sold at a lower price with full disclosure of it's condition.

As I pointed out, I think my dog is absolutely magnificent and would never want to send him back or part with him.  For me the issue isn't so much the money (although nobody wants to feel like they got ripped off) it is more the false information on the website and the unethical treatment of customers that I want to make sure any perspective buyer is aware of about this company.

It is amazing to look at the puppie video on their website where they specifically talk about checking puppies for testicular development and showing Wayne feeling a puppy's testicles.  Obviously this is something they know to check but ignored in the case of my puppy.

Do you mind me asking who your pup's sire is?
