with any personal requirements. It's off topic but Personal protection vs property protection, or just a pet or companion dog that has some degree of inherant protection are all being discussed as being the same dog.

What I have meant is this.
For thousands of years the dogs were living with and working for their masters. They performed certain tasks like hunting, herding and protection... These dogs were performing these tasks based on an necessity and genetic make up which resulted form selective breeding. They learned from watching another dog ( monkey see, monkey do), they learned because they were observing their master and knew what pleased him and what did not. Than "good" dogs were kept and promoted through breeding and the other were eliminated. There was no training of a grip,. if the dog grabbed well the bad guy of wolf well master appreciate it and praised the dog and bred such dog. If the dog performed recall because the master was calling him off the mater praised him and if not master punished him and if the dog was able to learn from that he was promoted and subsequently bred. It was the same thing if the dog was good hunter, hound , protector herder and so on.
We can tap into thousands of years of this treasure by living with such good dogs. Yes we need to teach them to come and stay and down . And yes we can build on top of it with additional training but there is nothing better then the training by life where there is almost telepathic relationship between the master and the dog which i have experienced so often with my personal dogs. If we train a dog without such relationship, then all we have is a tool like screw driver. And I personally rather have naturally trained good dog attuned to me than machine trained tool like dog without such relationship.
That is what I am talking about.
