I'm looking for the parents of this dog, along with any other information about him someone might have (birthdate, date of death, registration #, titles, etc). Anything you might have would be much appreciated. :-)

Why not go directly to the "source"?? Marion@kirschental.de or marion@fueller-mail.de

Thank you! :-) I'll do that now. :-)

Considering the awful amount of typos on this board, I would not be the least surprised when one should be talking about WILKO.

While I'm sure he's passed away by now, he was still doing well when I last corresponded with Wynn Strickland about him in Nov. 2000, so he was still alive at the age of 12 years. Wynn said she'd retired him and placed him with a local gentleman who wanted an older dog for a companion. Wiko was KKl 1, SchH3 and HGH titled prior to being imported to the US by Wynn Strickland. I have a daughter of Wiko's, from a Frei Hirschel/Aike Kirscental daughter. My bitch had her 10th birthday this past September, and aside from an injury she sustained to the L2-L3 vertebral disk two years ago, she's in good health and I have had no problems with her whatsoever. Her hips OFA'd good at 2 years of age and again at 5 years, elbows and thyroid are also OFA certified as normal. She was tested for VWD and hemophilia A by Cornell University, and found to be negative on both counts, and is not a carrier of either afflication. She's been a fine dog, and I could not ask for anything more in a dog. :) So there's at least on Wiko offspring that you have info on. :)

>So there's at least on Wiko offspring that you have info on. :) Here's another. Lost my Wiko son (also from Wynn Strickland, by a Falco Schanzlache daughter) May 1, a week after his 10th birthday, from DM. Strong, powerfully built dog like his father (who I met when I picked up Otto at 7 weeks from Wynn), with a strong, large head. He was very athletic and could jump on top of my SUV, and was as fast as a rocket. Very protective of my property - he wouldn't allow anyone he didn't know through the gate and would stand there snarling until one of his humans told him it was OK, then he'd back right off and was quite friendly. Loved his obedience training as a pup and was very responsive to commands. As to health, he was neutered at age 7 due to enlarged prostate issues. Diagnosed at age 8 with fibrotic myopathy (scarring of gracilis muscle in rear leg that was probably due to him charging around like a loon all the time and repeatedly tearing the muscle). The fibrotic myopathy caused a hitch in his gait and I didn't have him jump anymore, but it didn't seem to bother him much aside from that. He began having problems with his other rear leg and was diagnosed with DM a month before he died. After the diagnosis he rapidly lost control of his hindquarters, to the point where he couldn't take more than a few steps without bouncing his butt off the ground, but still insisted on being outside from dawn 'til dusk right up until the morning he died. He had stopped eating and drinking water two days before he died, so I suspect his kidneys were shutting down due to the DM. Overall a great dog, and while I wish he hadn't died relatively young, I have no regrets and was proud to be his master. Xandert, I have a couple of pics I could email you from a week before he died if you want - he hardly looks like a dog with only a week left. Currently looking into another pup from Kirschental lines; my 11-year-old American lines male is fit as a fiddle but seems a bit lonely, especially when outside.

While my dogs have no Wiko behind them, they do have great Kirschental foundation lines. Mine are known for their excellent drives, health, longevity, good hips and elbows, and constitutional vigor. They all go back to Aike Kirschental--before she was imported by Wynn Strickland. In fact, I have a couple of high-energy young males (12 and 14 months old with great preliminary hip and elbow xrays and all their "parts") from these lines that I have been "growing out". Because I already have 2 rival, adult male studs, I have decided to make the young boys available to homes where they will be loved, worked, family members, and have a sense of having a "job". FYI, the 14-month-old is linebred 5-5,4 Eiko Kirschental. For further particulars, feel free to contact me privately (just click on my name to send me an email).
