This is INSANE!  I wonder how many employees it takes to care for 1200 dogs!  Can you imagine the feed bill!

Sounds to me like 1200 puppy mill dogs were put out of their misery. Sad for the dogs, but ultimately better than the life they were living, I'll bet.

Very sad. At least one more mid-western puppy mill is out of business, hopefully for good, but they'll probably just start again in another location.

Will people ever learn that pet stores are just fronts for puppy mills?  Go to either a humane society/animal rescue or a reputable breeder for a dog.  We picketed the local pet store that was selling puppy mill dogs and put it out of business.

But for every person that will not buy a puppy at a pet store, a dozen more will.  Puppy mills are always going to be around as long as people wil happily pay money for that cute little doggy in the window.

Shame that they had to euthanize that many dogs, but looking at it from the aspect of those on here who bash breeders who put dogs in rescue..At least this guy, bad as he was, agreed that euthanasia was the best alternative, rather than trying to dump over a thousand dogs on local rescues.

What boggles my mind is:  How could anyone have a big enough kennel building to house that many dogs, and how big a staff did he have to care for them?  His food bill would have been hundreds of dollars a day, for cheap dog food. The cost of such an operation would have been staggering, even if he just kept the dogs in tiny cages.

Rest in Peace poor dogs...Run free at the Rainbow Bridge.
