I still don't know what you guys are posting about. He is not petitioning for a dog. He answered a question from a member of the media. What should he have said? what do you expect to come out of his mouth when he is asked if he would like another dog? Some of you are acting like he is actually trying to obtain a dog. When that happens, then you can argue the fact. And how fair is it that his children cannot have a dog?

Why does Hodie need to name the poster? We all know who it is.

by Fenris on 18 December 2010 - 17:12

From moderator Fenris: The topic of this thread is Michael Vick.

Deja Vu

I don't need to name anyone. My comment is general and if others here want to make more of it, be my guest. It is a comment in general based also on what PsychT said on another thread about how rare it is for anyone to be suspended or banned by AKC. Even they don't do what they should as an organization to make sure people are held accountable for crimes against animals. When it is someone like Vick, it would be interesting to know if AKC ever had a litter registered by him, and if so, if he is now suspended. At present, yes, it is a moot question.

The "referenced person" was very obvious -- and it was unnecessary to bring it up.

Last chance.  Drop it and get back on topic or the thread will be closed.

People have especially short memories when it comes to celebrities or sports figures. Vick plays a couple of good games and all of a sudden he's a hero again. If Vick would have come to Green Bay to play with the Packers I would be picketing ouside the stadium even if he won the Super Bowl. And Vick should have thought of his kids when he was electrocuting animals in his swimming pool. How can anyone forgive something like that? And now he says he loves animals again?

I don't think people have short memories at all.  It's the fact that he served prison time.  Whether we think it was too little time or not doesn't matter.  The "powers that be" decided the time, he served it, and because he did, he gets to try again.  That's just the way it is.  It's the whole way our system is supposed to work.

What hope can there be for any one who has served time to get out from prison and try to have any sort of a life and a job to see the vitriol and hatred another prisoner is met with?

He got caught, he got punished, he served his punishment, and now he's out.  If after his probation is over he applies to have a dog, I hope he gets one.

Who's making him into a hero? I agree that winning a couple NFL games doesn't rehabilitate a man. I never said he deserved another dog. I simply stated that the man was answering a question, not petitioning. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that.
