2 year old male Australian Shepherd,  What do you think?  Parents OFA Excellent and Good, 5 half siblings tested with OFA Good.

They're a whole lot better then my Aussie's hips.

The clarity on this x-ray is very good, however the positioning could be better;  there is some flattening of the femur head and some remodeling on the left side possiblity of jumping or pacing in kennel or to much weight??  Really hard to tell.  Right hip looks OK but probably due to left hip this dog might get a FAIR.  I hope it is better than that as I know what rides on these x-rays.  Best of luck  Nanci

I would not send this to OFA and I would ask for my money back from my vet if he would produce picture like this!
1. Dog is laying too much on one side.(Left)
2. legs are not parallel
3. knee caps are all the way outwards. I am surprised that the vet did not dislocate the dogs hips .
4. exposure is good but otherwise the vet did pretty sorry job.
Proper positioning will give you completely different and probably much better perspective.

I am also surprised, with the positioning of the legs (knees should be turned in, not out) that the hips look as good as they do.  With that, IMO these are very good hips and should come back a solid OFA good.

 Oh, Mylanta. I would be furious to receive this xray.

Dog's hips look fine, or at least they were until this jack@$$ yanked them the wrong way. ARGH- I have zero tolerance for vets who can't take an xray and put undue physical strain on the dog!

Despite the poor positioning these hips look nice.

@Jenni78:
May I politely point out that the outside/lateral positioning of the patellas is the result of insufficient "inward" turn of both femurs, rather than an outward rotation. The curvature of the inner aspect of the lower femur indicates that these hips were rotated into the correct (inward) direction ... just not enough.

Just wanted to clarify this, before the owner accuses the vet of "inappropriate physical force".
Despite the suboptimal positioning, these hips should pass OFA.

I also did his elbows and they are undoubtably "Normal"

If I were to send these into OFA in hopes of a "good"  but get a Fair and re-X-ray. Will OFA re-evaluate for free or no?

 The positioning is not perfect but the hips are Good,Normal. They should pass.
