Just wanna ask this question to those who have experience raising a protection gsd bloodline. Are there a particular bloodline that really excel in protection. what particular bloodline you can recommend? Thus is matter if west, DDR/east, czech?

Thanks!

Well I would say stay with west german lines they seem to keep better records going way back, but other great dogs have been reg. in other Euro countries as well,on this site look at BSP and look at the score of the protection phase 98 99 100 are all very high scores,I will have grand puppies of the winner of the 2008 BSP due in jan if interested,My female linebred on Tom vant Leefdaalhof 2-3,pups 1,200 ea,I expect very dark sables perhaps some solid blacks

Depending on the genetic make up of the parents if will depend on choosing a west, czech or DDR line dog, my preference is the DDR and Czech as they are bigger dogs with bigger heads and have more civil drive compared to West Germans which are more sporty dogs nevertheless they also do have serious dogs but a bit harder to find.

many would recommend for DDR or Czech bloodline. any particular or out from any particular dog's lineage? since i've seen many DDR or Czech also find it lacking.

You should look and ask some particular breeders i am not sure where you live but consider Grafental kennels for DDR lines and Jinopo from the Czech side of things.

Not to be critical but I wish to bring up an important point that should be thought out. If someone is asking about what lines to use in a protection dog ............... I hate to assume but thinking this person is "inexperienced" would not be a good thing to get a dog with many of the backgrounds as given in the responses listed above. Those are dogs with with good levels of natural aggression, they may be getting much more dog than they are able to control or handle. Not to mention that the dog may feel he is in control over the handler. Just food for thought !     Greg

We have a 7 month old pup from Grafental lines (mostly) and she is perfect (so far) for what I want from her. She is very friendy to everyone outside of the house. When someone comes to the house she barks and meets them at the door to check them out and make sure they are "OK"   to be let in. Then she is friendly to them also. Also she has what most would call a medium drive and a great nose. We are currently training her for SAR and she is doing really well.
