Weight - Page 1

Hi I recently got a fullblooded GSD. I havent ever had one before and was just wondering about what she should weigh at 7 weeks old.

My male was 17lbs at 12 weeks old and is currently 2.5 yrs old and 80lbs lean.

My current pup was 9.8lbs at 8 weeks and is now 15.4lbs at 10 weeks.

If you are concerned I would ask the breeder.  Even within the breed there are differences among lines/type.

I brought my girl home at 8 weeks and she weighted 16lbs.

I believe the weight at any age...on a German Shepherd....be it a Male or Female...Isn't important...The thing that's important is if the pup is healthy...eating and acting well...and looks healthy...
You hear so much about people wanting their puppies with "Puppy Fat"...I want my pups to be Healthy...and not fat at all...but a good weight for THAT particular pup...
Even within the same litter...You'll find that littermates will vary from pup to pup...I've found that most of the time...all puppies will mature and be approximately the same weights...
You might contact your breeder and see if they know how the littermates of your puppy are doing and what kind of general weight they're at...at any particular age...

Typically, pups weigh about a pound at birth. One to one and a half pounds per week weight gain to 10 weeks is not unusual, with leaps and bounds growth after that.
