Apart from your main interest with your dogs, and the Club you belong to, for instance a Schutzhund Training Club.  Do you belong to any other type of Training Clubs with your dogs? - Obedience, Agility, Working Trials, Ringcraft etc.

Most of our Schutzhund club members only belong to to our club.  Most of them started out with obedience clubs or breed clubs.  Once they get the Schutzhund bug, all other training seems too low level.

Hello HawaiiGSD,  Thank you for your reply.  I was interested because if people are members for instance of a Schutzhund Club, and this obviously involves Obedience, a type of Agility and Working Trials, that some folk may also enjoy being a Member that solely concentrates on one of the other disciplines as well.  To give themselves additional opportunity of working with their dogs.

Interesting Jim, that you say that Members from your Club find all other training; "low level".  Do you mean that the opportunity to participate in an additional Club that is focussing on a section of either Obedience or Working Trials (the same aspects) are not of the same calibre?

This question obviously applies perhaps to someone who attends Ringcraft for Breed Shows, do they also belong to one of the other disciplines of training too?

Thank you Jim,
With Regards,
Vixen

Hi Vixen:  I belong to a GSD Breed club and used to train with an akc trainer while also training in Schutzhund.  I stopped the akc training to concentrate on titling my dog and found the 2 venues where causing some issues for Molly.  Once I retire Molly from Schutzhund I will go back  and finish her AKC obedience titles.

Hi Renofan,  Interesting that you were finding the two Venues were a hindrance rather that a help.  Obviously you made a sensible decision to focus with one Trainer on the one discipline.

Were the requirements of the AKC Obedience in opposite contrast to that of your Schutzhund work?

Thanks for sharing Cheryl.

Regards,
Vixen
