I am a raw feeder but I'm going to be in a situation where I can't keep raw foods as I'll be very remote over the summer. I was considering switching them over to Innova's Evo for my 3 month stay in the wilderness. First, has anyone used this food and what was the results. Did the dog seem to like it? How much a day does a dog of medium activity require? I have a 97 pound male and 2 72 and 76 pound females. I could follow the bag's instructions but would like to know what amounts anyone actually feeds their dogs the Evo. Thanks, Arrakis

Have you looked at Honest Kitchen? It's a dehydrated raw food. It's really good and can be taken anywhere, it's a "just add water" raw... you can find it at www.thehonestkitchen.com or through a broker like www.leerburg.com

I use raw also and the dehydrated works quite well w/travel. For my litter, as most don't do the raw, I fed a combination of mainly Innova and Solid Gold's Wolf Cub...all did extremly well on it.

I have fed Evo and loved it. I had a back order of Timberwolf Organics so I had to buy somthing from the store. I fed Evo for almost 4 weeks and the dogs did very well on it. My dogs are highly active so I fed anywhere from 3-5 cups per day. my house dogs got 3 cups one day and 4 cups the next off and on. It's not cheap but it is of high quality. Dennis

I know several people who use it and really are very happy with it.. one person had trouble keeping weight with other foods on 1 male and with EVO, I think she said.... 2-3 cups maybe??? Many raw food companies have dehydrated/freeze dried versions of their food.. expensive but so is EVO

Hi, I have a working dog and feed raw. We were deploying and could not get my dehydrated so tried the Evo before deployment and through the search. I had a terrible time. The protein content was too much (suprising since I feed raw) and my 5 year old developed at severe case of pano. This was diagnosed with x-rays. We ruled out all else with a battery of tests including cardiac enzymes. He was out of work for 6-8 weeks and feed veggies, carbs and almost no protein. like 6%. He is back to his old self. Deffinetly go with dehydrated!!!! SArah Atlas

Anyone who is looking at Innova EVO, realize that this food is okay for a grown adult (I occasionally use it for pregnant or nursing females, or mixed in with Eagle Pack or Canidae for very young (8 weeks and under) puppies), but a puppy over 12 weeks or young dog (under 20 months female; under 24 months male) should not have the high protein content due to issues with too quick growth causing Panosteitis (inflammation of the long bones) and other joint problems. My advice is: Stick with below 26% protein until they are adults.

I had unsatisfactory results with feeding EVO. Some said "give it more time" but 4 out of the 6 dogs I fed it to lost considerable weight in a short amount of time, had runny stools, etc. I think it was just too rich for my guys. I mostly feed raw but I feed dry food to my rescues and need something of good quality and not too expensive that they do well on. So...EVO is out for us. The marketing ploy of "this is the food for when you cannot feed raw" is a good one, which is why I brought it home to begin with. Canidae has been the best I've tried so far. My biggest dog here is a very active 70ish pound male malinois, and he has kept his weight on well with about 4-5 cups per day.

VomFelsenHof Are you saying that no puppy should be fed high protein diet so raw is out of the question too? This Evo food is all protein? I'm still learning foods so this is why I ask so I can keep this information for reference. Carrie
