The tattoo may contain letters that identify the breeder. Each breeder should have their own code. If it's a two letter and 4 digit tattoo, suspect it to be German and post the information here. Someone may recognize the kennel code. If the tattoo is 7 digits. Suspect it to be a USCA code. The first two letters will be the tattooer code, next digit is the year the dog was born. The next two letters are the breeder. USCA should be able to identify the breeder from this information. There are many combinations used. Posting it here will probably produce some information for you.

On this same subject does anyone recognise this tattoo mark? NDR HAD25 dog was bred in the Wisconsin area some seven years ago. I have tried to contact the National Dog Registry but as I live in England now I can't expect them to call me back and they don't seem to be good with emails. Best Chris

In UK the tattoo number is usually 2 letters and 4 numbers - that is recent ones - usually the area and/or tattooist code - for example - AG0045 - UK bred male tattooed in UK in 2005. Some of the older tattoo's are AOG1756 - 3 letters and 4 numbers. NDR sounds like a Netherlands tattoo to me - but may be well off the "mark" (sorry about the pun none intended). Perhaps someone out there with a German Import and enlighten you on their system.

We have dogs that the first two letters are the kennel designation, the next two numbers are the year, the last two alpha/number are the litter and which born. At least the pups we purchased from a couple US kennels were that way.

All I have is E204 this is for someone else so I will make sure that all the letters and numbers are there. I hope that some one can help her. She never received the paper on the dog and she is trying to find the Sire and Dam of him to make sure it is the dog she wanted. Thanks for your time Robin

Toots The NDR stands for National Dog Registry which is based in the USA where the dog came from (Wisconsin). My guess is that the HAD 25 is either the tatooists number or the breeder. Still no word form the NDR people. Thanks Chris

e204 sounds like a dutch tattoo. Can you try to find a microchip code with the dog? Usually here the dog gets a tattoo of e + the last 3 digits of the microchip. All dogs from the Netherlands are microchipped.

This is my dog -- the Dam (according to the information I have is Aliz of Royal Dream) and the Sire is (again, according to the information that I have) Aik von Lutje Horn (with accents over the u and o)...I will have him scanned to see if he has a microchip, but the broker/breeder said that he wasn't microchipped...
