Feeding raw is not that difficult.

Step 1:  Prepare your meals for the week:  Chicken quarters, thighs, portions of chopped liver, beef chuck steak, eggs, plain yogurt, a roll of Fresh is Best Turkey Recipe (has 20% veggies and fruit).  Maybe some marrow bones if you're into that.  Supplements:  Glucosamine/MSM for joints, fish oil, probiotics and digestive enzymes.  Bag them and freeze, thawing one each morning in cool water.

Step 2:  Give it to a hungry dog who is sitting politely!  Gone in 5 seconds!

You will see the difference in your dogs coat, skin, muscle tone, and overall health when you feed raw, because it is not a processed diet.  Probiotics will help strengthen your dogs GI system for the bacteria that can be present in raw meats.  Some people don't give dairy or fruits/veggies, but it's your choice, I feel it can only benefit the dog to have as much variety as possible.

ok, i am lazy...I have mixed my own in the past.  But it is sooo much easier when it comes all ground up like hamburger...

i love it, I weigh it out and put it in the bowl, and POOF it is gone.

I live in a very rural area in the country...We have a large Amish population in out part of the county. As a matter of fact I have Amish neighbors that I am pretty friendly with...The Amish will usually give you just about anything you ask for at a much better price than the grocery store...I could probably buy chicken, pork, beef, lamb, turkey, and we have 10 acres of land to hunt deer.......I am going to have to give this raw feeding some serious consideration.....

I hear so many good things about feeding RAW. Thinking of doing it. one question, when switching from kibble to raw do you do it slowly like 75% kibble and 25% RAW for a week or so. Or do it all at once

all at once, just take the dog off kibble for a day, give some yogurt or cottage cheese to bring up the natural bactiera in the dogs tummy and then feed raw the next day

Just reading this thread so hopefully you guys will still see it to comment. The first picture where you're holding looks like a thigh/drumstick? I was under the impression (for almost all my life), that chicken bones splinter badly and that they were some of the worst bones for dogs? Only a few bones could be eaten?(Now if you say something along the lines of.................................... the wild dogs/cats would eat everything from their kill................) I understand that and to a point I think and feel the same way. But I was raised say, rib bones, marrow bones and such were ok but not chicken bones, the sharp pork chops and T-bone bones. and the likes?

And how would one figure out the "weight" to feed? Like a puppy? 15 month old and a nine year old? It wouldn't be til they can't eat anymore?? And cost? Say for three would be sky rocket.

Interesting!

alboe,
Raw bones do not splinter.  I feed my male 2 1/2 to 3 lbs of chicken quarters daily.  I will never go back to dry food.
