This is Banjo, my GSD, a pure breed with black spots on his tounge. I have had a few comments about Chow's in regard to him. I'm always offended, but explain that it's common in Pure GSDs. BTW: A story, Banjo was born in Phnom Penh Cambodia where I lived for 7 years. The local Khmers say that a dog with black on the tounge was bitten in a past life by a snake and if bitten in this life will always survive! Good thing since we returned to the states and now live in Rattle Snake country!!!

These must be the same people that think my black GSD must be mixed with lab LMAO.

Melanie,
Funny you mentioned that about Ema.... people thinking she is mixed with lab. I had Xena, who is a dark sable, at the field today practicing and someone that was watching me (not a club member) asked if she has cattle dog mixed in with her. They said that because according to them purebred GSDs dont come in her color....
Here is Xena showing off her black spotted tounge. She was 2 years old in this picture....

Has anyone every heard of a GSD witha blue tongue. I saw a very nice male looked great except he had a blue spots on his tongue and had yellow eyes. The owner didnt speak english so I couldnt ask any questions.

Perhaps good initial pigment but I had a male with black spots on his tongue who had great color as a youngster but also had the gene for paling so it didn't last.
