What is the other side of his pedigree......? ...And who said Brindles don't exist ? I recall several breeders on here saying it was impossible to have a brindle pure bred GSD.  Guess its not totally bred out of the gene pool. Its there lurking in the shadows..

Handsome dog. The pedigree shows nothing on the sire's side.  What are the lines?

So are breeders breeding for Brindle again or is this just a one of accident?

Personally i think the Brindle should come back offically with a "breeding plan" for it. Responsable breeders should consider it instead of risk loosing it to the type of breeders which would put colour before health.

Do you know much about the sire's side?

Very handsome. I have seen Brindle GSD's before at the Vet where I work. I always figured someone had a Dutchie that slipped into the breeders kennel. :o)

Not trying to start anything but this is the AKC # under Coppers name "AKC/QD00109005". Has anyone seen an AKC Sequence like this?? Is it one of the new sequences? Most GSD's I have seen were D, DN, DL, etc. Is it a special (PAL) #?

The letter Q in the AKC number designates conditional registration on the dog.

Geordiegavino

Brindle is a color also. So if you just breed for the color  is it not the same as the OTHER breeders who breed for color.

Some of the other colors that people breed for and specialize in.
Black
Bi
Sables     various shade for some only
Red            Many shades to pick from here too
Tan            Are still wanted by others.

Are all of these breeders not thinkg of the health of the dog.

Or is the health of the dog being lost because people breed dogs of poor health.

I don't really think from this picture I would go so far as to say this is really a brindle.  Wonder what he will look like in two or three years after a few more sheddings.

Laural H - you know i didnt mean it like that. Am talking about the breeders who would ignore knowledge about a dogs health just to ensure they had a Brindle puppy. Ofcourse not all breeders are "bad" breeders thats why i said the responsable breeders should take control now instead of letting it slip into the hands of the breeders who only care for the color ect... then the Brindle dog wont be out-casted by so called GSD breeders who claim to breed the right gsd's

He also looks pretty much Brindle to me.... You cant deny that he does look like a brindle gsd you see in the old pictures.

Can someone upload a old pic of a brindle gsd so we can compare them just to discuss Laural's possibility that it isnt a Brindle.
