Nope, had a nice day, trained in the a.m. and then met some friends for a nice long scooter ride.  As a red blooded American male, I just never use the word "lovely", especially when describing a "male" working dog.  Don't think that Big Chief Max used it much in his bible either.  Could be wrong but I doubt it.  Ahhhhh, the softening of a former excellent working dog.  Now please excuse me while I iron my skirt.

Thanks for the correction Phil. I get your point. Makes sense except for the shooting part :)

hmmmm...Phil, I can say that von Stephanitz certainly did not have a dog (like the one in the picture of your profile) in mind when he wrote the standard either!!

You should read his book...you will not find the word "lovely" granted, but you will see many other words which would be interpreted by many as "lovely" especially when refering to the dogs' anatomy, with words such as harmony with smouth lines and no sudent disruptions and balanced and correct angulations as per his prescribed angles.

This to some may be lovely.

Nope because my breed of choice is actually an older one but if you look at the original version of Max's German Shepherds, what do they look like?

Funny that this article uses a photo of a Malinois while referencing the German Shepherd.

I'm guessing that the dog pictured at the foot of the great Capt. looks more like the one in my avatar than the one you have.
