Can someone fix the linebreeding generator? Oli? Here is an example: http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/466372.html The Jabina bitch listed for sale. She comes up with no line breeding in 5 generations. When in reality she is 4,5,5 on V Ilja aus dem schwarzen Zwinger and 4,4 Cora von der Fasanerie. As well as 4,5 V Ork vom Wolfendobel. There also may be more that I am not seeing. Can anyone help? Thanks!

It is correct. This female ISN'T linebred on the above dogs listed. e.g. Cora would have to be listed on Jabina's sire AND dam for it to be a linebreeding. Uri, Jabina's sire is the one that is linebred, not the dog mentioned above. If you look at all the dogs you put above, Ilja and Ork both appear in the sire's side, not in her dam so it's not a linebreeding for this dog. Hope this helps. Vom Landholz

That doesn't make sence to me at all! Just because they are only on the sire or dam's side they are still in her pedigree multiple times. Therefore she IS line bred on them. Just because the actual parents do not contribute to the line breeding, shouldn't mean that it isn't there.

vomlandholz is correct. There has to be a common ancestor in the sires and dams pedigree to be considered linebreeding. There is no common ancestry from the sire and the dam on this bitch...which means no linebreeding. If you look at the fathers linebreeding, he is 5-5,4 on V Greif zum Lahntal, which means Greif is in the pedigree once on the fathers side 5 generations back, and on his mothers side twice on the 5th and 4th generation back. Linebreeding can be confusing to someone that is new to looking at pedigrees. If you get a chance to look at papers from the SV, you'll see that they list the linebreeding information on them. Jeff

DJC, you are confusing linebreeding with backmassing; they two distinctly different schools of thought each with heir own following. Try to google both of these terms, I think you will find plenty of websites that explain the difference.
