RLHAR

by RLHAR on 11 August 2010 - 05:08

An hour ago my 14 year old cat was fine, curled up against my husband for bed time.   I think he had a stroke and in 1/2 an hour he was gone.

He hasn't been well for years and I knew we'd never get him to the emergency vet in time, so I held him and told him how much we loved him and how he was going to find a land full of laps for him to sit on and then he was gone.

He was a great cat, a good friend to the shepherds, who are currently worried about why Mommy is crying uncontrollably.  I know this is the price we pay for having them and their love in our lives but God it's hard to say good bye to a friend of 14 years.

May you rest in peace, my fuzzy friend, I will miss you so much.

I'm so sorry to hear that. He left the world at home, loved. You'll always be grateful for that.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Don't let anyone tell you he was "just a cat".

I'm also sorry to hear this.  One of our cats is currently in renal failure and is at the vet's undergoing diuresis; I'm sure we'll be saying goodbye to her soon as well.  This is the worst part about keeping animals...we always outlive them.

So sorry for your loss of Ford the cat.  It is sad to lose our feline pals, too.

(Was your cat on thyroid medicine by any chance? I had one that threw a clot and it paralyzed him, so we had to let him go. My vet told me later that was a risk to the thyroid medicine he was on. He had lived a good life, and left us at 16.)

Oh RLHAR,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of Ford the kitty. It's so hard to lose on of your best friends. I just went through this myself too.

"If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. RIP Ford."
