There was no particular line.
What some people say is that after the war the eastern part of Germany had a different focus to the breeding program. Working abilty was the only critera and the working that they had in mind was guard duty etc.
In the west there was more influence on showing.
Simplistic but I'm sure you get the idea.
Slowly there is a gulf opening between the two "camps".
Most people I know in Schutzhund will look at a pedigree and if it contains a "show" dog will not use that dog or bitch to breed from.
