My friend sent me a quick e-mail that Eukanuba is recalling several products due to salmonalla contamination? I have to leave for work, so I can't check it out right now....any body else hear anything? I don't feed Eukanuba, but thought I'd pass along what I heard, but be aware, it is unsubstantiated info at this point, IMHO! jackie harris

You'll never hear of most of those other foods being recalled.

Just like the auto industry, they have specific formulas they use to decide whether or not to issue a recall.  Because most of those other brands are fed in quantities that Eukanuba and Iams aren't, its not worth it to the companies to issue a recall.  Not enough pets would become ill to make it obvious *why* they'd become ill.  [to clarify, no pets have been sickened by this current batch of bad food.  this is just the basis they use to decide whether or not to issue a recall when a problem is discovered].

You might see the Nutro brands of foods recalled.  The rest?  Nah.

If I were feeding kibble, and my food appeared on the above list with the dates mentioned in the article... I'd play it safe and replace the bag with a newer one.

I have been feeding California Natural (which is made by Natura). I emailed Natura and this is what they told me....

" Our foods have not been implicated in the Iams and Eukanuba recall. Our foods are not made in the same facility.
While both our company and Iams and Eukanuba are owned by Proctor and Gamble our foods are not manufactured at the same facilities or under the same management team. Natura Pet Products are manufactured at our own facility in Fremont, NE under the direction of Natura President and Chief Operating Officer Don Scott."

Pretty sad that Eukanuba, once the gold star food for performance dogs, fell into the hands of P & G, now mass produced in the same company and facilities with all those other crummy products.
