Today is the 147th anniversary of the battle.
On the 75th anniversary of the battle the few remaining veterans met for the last great reunion.
This remarkable video shows some of those veterans and the unveiling of The Eternal Light Peace Memorial.

THe video reminds me of a photograph I saw in the Plains Museum at the University of Kansas. I was waylaid in the area as severe storms were predicted and I could not get a flight out. I spent some time around Lawrence, Kansas and found the small museum at the university.
The photograph I saw was taken sometime in the 1920's or 1930's and showed all of the great native chiefs standing side-by-side as they attended a conference on Indian affairs. These men were all very old - the youngest was perhaps in his sixties. They all stood as proud warriers and seemed to silently muse to themselves about the changes they saw in their lifetimes. It is not doubt that many of these men were born in the mid nineteenth century and could still remember a land they once called their own.
I enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Best Regards,
Bob-O
