"able to do schutzhund work...blah blah blah" (sunsilver)

How would you know, considering you don't train in the sport?  Do you even belong to a club?   Exactly how many Shiloh's have you personally seen trialing?  What qualifies you as capable of determining whether or not any dog, let alone a Shiloh would  wash out or end up on a podium?  If you had even a clue about schutzhund, you would know it does not in any way, shape, or form excludes dogs from serving as companions.  But go on, keep spouting the Shiloh party line and parroting what you have heard Tina say, just realize to the rest of us, it doesn't wash.

As as far as the other qualities you listed, they also belong to almost all the breeds  in the herding/working groups.  Using your logic I guess they all "sound a bit like a GSD" to you.

GOOD QUESTIONS, MYSTERE!  WE ARE ALL WAITING TO HEAR ABOUT  THE TITLED SHILOHS.  HOW ABOUT IT, SUNSILVER?  YOU HAVE PUT YOURSELF UP AS THE DEFENDER AND EXPERT, SO SURELY YOU HAVE THIS INFO READILY AVAILABLE?

Tina will have to answer this one. I move recently, and can't find my copy of her book. But, Tina has titled many dogs in Schutzhund, and in the early days of the breed, she and her husband made a business of providing dogs for police, security and personal protection.

Of course, at this time, the dogs were still AKC registered GSD's.

Too much happening here today (see the thread I started) for me to continue arguing with someone whose mind is obviously made up about what crap these dogs are!

Edit: I did manage to find this on the Shiloh Shepherd stock sheets for 1986-87, just to prove to you I am NOT avoiding your question:

Shiloh's Luke von Ensomhed (he's in the database if you want to check.)

Luke is fully personal protection trained, and does his work very well.

If you take the time to look at the pictures on the other sheets, you will see the dogs doing Schutzhund training.

Yes, you ARE avoiding the question. First, you claim "Tina will have to answer,"  despite the fact that YOU brought it up.   Secondly, you claim you can't find a copy of her book.  WHO asked for that?  I asked for confirmation of YOUR claim that she titled a shiloh in schutzhund.  You have presented nothing to address the question.

So, as I thought, NO verification of your claim is, nor will be, forthcoming.  At least not from you (who made the claim.)  Now, we shall see if  Ms. Barber goes into avoidance.

Not disappointed, though.

You all take the cake for the meanest spirited bunch of morons I've ever met in my life!

You wouldn't know a Shiloh if it bit you on the ass, and I hope one day ONE OF THEM DOES!

Yes, I CAN name dogs of hers that were titled. THEY ARE LISTED IN HER BOOK, WHICH I CANNOT FIND!

She NO LONGER DOES SCHUTZHUND, so I cannot find this info in the more recent stuff on her website.

My room mate's son is in hospital, having his leg amputated. My house is a mess, having just had a furnace and new ductwork installed, and I have company coming on Saturday! Believe me, I have more serious things to do with my time than argue with you IDIOTS, or turn my house upside down, looking for a book that got mislaid during my move!!

Check out the link: you will see Shiloh Shepherds in action, doing Schutzhund.

Or is it more fun to ARGUE than be faced with the TRUTH??

Indeed, and the Shiloh has its own, to distinguish it from the GSD:

No one is "arguing."  You were merely asked to back up YOUR own claim and, not surprisingly, you cannot.  Instead, typically, you resort to name-calling and other character-revealing behavior instead.

We are all very sorry about your roommate's son.  That has been expressed previously.  Please don't trivialize it as an "excuse,"  because, obviously, here you are back posting!!!

The TRUTH is that you cannot substantiate an idiotic claim.   .  Your precious book is not going to present the substantiation of your claim, by YOUR own admission: "Check out the link: you will see Shiloh Shepherds in action, doing Schutzhund"   But, that's okay, I made it clear that I did not expect any substantiation.  Hell, I'd have been SHOCKED if you had done anything like that.  ..

I don't worry about a shiloh biting me on the ass, or anywhere else.  I have seen many of them.  I have yet to see one that would bite a biscuit with gravy on it.

Oh boy.

I am new and looking around here for the first time. Not sure I like it, so much anger here!! Is this what GSD people are like? Angry at all people that don't have GSDs? I did have a Malinois in the past, no GSD. Maybe I should go find an other forum, I don't like to be yelled at!

Terms of usage 4. always be respectful of other users! Sorry but I don't see how this discussion is respectful, nor how this talking about this lady Tina Barber is respectful. You don't have to agree on her work or breed, but please be respectful towards her and others!

I give credit where credit is due Tina Barber has done a very nice long term marketing program and i,m sure it has paid off well for her that makes her a good buisness man but in my opinion not a good breeder she took a existing breed with a standard and function and changed it just enough to make ot seem new and exciting but all she has done in the end is breed a oversized german shepherd dog and develop her own standard to make it seem correct.

Hardly note worthy, but marketably effective.

I dam no one for inventing a better mouse trap, but really how do you invent a new wheel?

All this talk about doing Schutzhund in all honesty you can go to the pound and find 5 dogs that can more then likely pass the BH and Sch1 without a problem. It,s the standard folks thats effected the most the standard.
