Shiloh Shepherds are in the same class as Warlock/King Dobermans. There's no such thing as a Warlock nor King Doberman. There was a Warlock stud several years ago that was slightly larger...and through linebreeding, etc. the dobermans from that bloodline grew larger. Now you'll see people trying to sell "King" and "Warlock" Dobermans everywhere you turn when, in fact, they are just oversized Dobermans. Kinda annoys me considering dobermans were bred at a certain standard for agility, manueverability purposes, etc. When you oversize something...it takes away what the breed was originally bred for.

I thought the Shiloh Shepherds were GSDs crossed on other large breeds, and so became a seperate "breed" of it's own. This is not correct?

I am talking about the people that advertise Shiloh Shepherds that are NOT mixed with the other large breeds (as true Shiloh Shepherds are). They advertise oversized Shepherds as "Shilohs" just to market them.

The "Shiloh Shepherd" is usually a grossly oversized and long-coated dog that is passed off by several breeders as a "purebred old-type" German Shepherd. I have even seen claims that they "have better hips than the German Shepherd." According to the OFA database that is not true. The idea of this animal being touted as an "old type" of German Shepherds could come from the influence of Braveheart, an oversized German Shepherd movie star from the 1920's. Especially for that time during the history of our favourite breed, a dog the size of Strongheart (more than 100-pounds) was a very serious anomoly. Some of these breeders compare these dogs to the large German Shepherds that you knew as a child. I can't speak for everyone, but when I was a young child all dogs seemed large to me. As far as I can concerned, the only thing that the Shiloh Shepherd, King Shepherd, etc. have in common with our dog is that when viewing from a long distance they do appear to be a heavy German Shepherd. I am sure the oversized Doberman Pinscher is very much the same. Bob-O

The truth is easy there is no seprate breed called shiloh shepherd it is a gimmick designed by the few looking to try to take advantage of gulible buyers thats the truth. All it does is further hurt the breed of German Shepherd by breeding well outside the standard. The truth Hurts sometimes.

I love big dogs, but the trend for breeding out of standard is becoming ridiculous.

the other problem i have is the tea-cup JRT ???? It is NOT a breed. I have seen them advertised for £700

IMO if you want a huge dog then get a great Dane or a mastiff, if you want a tiny one get a chihuahua or a Yorkie

Makreting 101.. Find a way to be 'different' and to differentiate yourself from the herd. None of these dogs can work, if they could the military & Police wouldve culled the others. Only experiments Ive seen was a Donovan Pinshcer & Black Russian Terrier. OK but not necessary. Im selling a nice designer breed of toy dogs. They are only $5000 They are a hybrid and cross of a Shitzu & Old style Great Dane I call them a Great Shit PM me for details or just send cash
