AKVERONICA60: I HAVE FOUND 1 MALE, GERMAN IMPORT, AND WE SENT OUR FEMALE TO THE GUY TO SCH TRAIN, BUT REALLY ON A CO-SHARE BREEDING ARRANGEMENT. YOUNG MALE, NOT EVEN 2 YEARS YET, EXTREME CIVILITY THAT WILL ONLY GET MORE AS HE MATURES. OUR YOUNG FEMALE IS EXTREME--ALL MILITARY PEOPLE WHO SAW HER ONCE REMEMBER HER FOREVER--A MUST TO BREED. THE MALE IS BEING SCH TRAINED, AND THEY ARE DOING A GOOD JOB WITH HIM "MANAGING" HIM BUT I BELIEVE THEY ARE IN FOR MORE THAN THEY CAN HANDLE WHEN HE TURNS 3 OR 4 YEARS OLD. PREVIOUS LITTERMATES OF HIS ARE WORKING BORDER PATROL. HIS BROTHER KILLED SOMEONE AND NOW THE EUROPEANS "IN THE KNOW" ARE TRYING TO TIE UP BREEDING RIGHTS TO HIM. IN THE MILITARY HERE WE ARE BASING OUR FUTURE PROGRAMS ON THAT BREEDING AND REPEAT BREEDINGS. WE WANT TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FUTURE MALES FOR 1-2 BREEDINGS FOR DIFFERENT BLOOD, BUT WITH THE CIVIL REQUIREMENT A MUST. I'LL LET YOU KNOW IF I FIND ANYTHING ELSE

why the heck extreme civil aggression? what are you doing with those dogs? can they be multi-purpose dogs? family dogs? therapy dogs? police dogs? what's the thrill about a dog that can send you to the hospital?? kosta

by AKVeronica60 on 04 March 2006 - 01:03

The thrill is not in sending anyone to the hospital...unless he was an attacker with criminal intentions : ) The civil aggression makes a dog continue naturally far beyond the game playing stage, as it has been told to me by the far more knowledgable. As I understand it, most police K9 handlers feel that top Schutzhund sport dogs often do not produce top police dogs, that prey drive and play drive do not necessarily transfer into real life. What's the story on killing someone? That is not a plus, unless the circumstances demanded it?

GSDONLINE....I own Canto.....please email me at eluke@mts.net if you have questions about him. I know everyone who has worked him in North America. If you like and live in Canada you can come to work him or look to our website for video. Canto has very high prey and is VERY strong in the Protection. He is a dog with very good balance and very very strong fighting instincts... You can see the video at www.zwischensee.com Thank you, Eric LUKE www.zwischensee.com eluke@mts.net

s-vargas "dog started on drugs and bombs". Is this a new fad in the states. I have been out of the country now for almost 3 years working/training bomb dogs in places like Iraq and now afghanistan. I started hearing rumors of this but really did not pay much attention to them cause I thought they where BS. not that a dog is not capable of learning to recognize all the odors but who you gonna call when the dog alerts, bomb or drug. I know you are just passing this info on reference this dog, do you have any other information on this new training practice, ie is it 2 different alerts or is it all trained together, ect. I am just curious. Thanks

EDD In Afgan: I talk the procurement office in Lackland a while back and was looking for information as to how become a vendor for DOD. The information I got was just phonomenal. You are SO correct. When they get a dog they want it detecting bombs OR drugs. The basic bite work is require on both types of dogs, but if you are in a "bomb" environment, you would not necessarily want a dog, with drugs on his mind, and vice versa. I am not saying that detecting both is "wrong"(hold on to your panties, folks), just verify the military's way of doing business that EDD is talking about. Stephen
