Anyone( US) import from Belgium lately? - Page 1

Has anyone imported a puppy or dog from Belgium lately? Might be getting a pup from belgium wondering the going rate for air fair?

Yes. I am importing a Malinois pup from Belgium to NY on May 13th. I was quoted just shy of 700 euro for everything, shots, paperwork, crate, etc. As well as contacting other folks on other forums, I spoke with other breeders and all said it sounds about right. Also the breeder had the pet transport company send me a pdf of the quote separately and offered for me to pay them directly. My only request was for 125 Euro, it better be a new crate!
I was also relieved to see that Belgium is on the list of CDC's rabies free countries, so there is no need for quarantine or confinement issues. With the current economic woes over Greece, the Euro has been depreciating since the initial deposit, so I am watching the USD/EURO spot rate everyday, before I do the final wire transfer.  Here's a link to the Reuters currency converter... http://www.reuters.com/finance/currencies

Remember that the Pup does not leave in a flight from Brussels Airport the Seller has to drive to Frankfurt in Germany to send the Pup off depending where he lives in Belgium it can be anything from a 4 to 7 hours drive each way that is in the cost of freight

I recently imported a Malinois bitch from Croatia, she flew from Frankfort to Chicago and it was right at 700 euros.
