Nice TWHs, GSDSRULE. Do you know how they were bred just out of curiosity? Did you trail ride them or show them?

by GSDSRULE on 14 March 2010 - 21:03

Just trail riding.  I went to a couple of TWH shows and left in disgust.
Both of mine had great feet, never had a shoe on and I rode them all over.

The chestnut was by Go Boy's Fancy Pants out of Caydence Skip, born in 1975

The black was by Indigo Blue Max out of Misty's Ginger-Leigh, born in 1992

The Chestnut kind of reminded me of my guy, which is why I asked. When you look at enough, little similarities in lines start to jump out at you. Lots of them are very similarly bred. I understand leaving a show in disgust. Here's mine; take a look at the shoes in the pic (same pic I posted a few pages back but you can see them easier in this one). What on Earth are people thinking???

Here are some of the horses I had the pleasure of knowing when I managed an arabian breeding farm. Some are purebred arabs and others are arab/saddlebred crosses. Oh and we had one mini horse, too who was a rescue of sorts. We had 20-25 horses on the farm and anywhere from 3-6 foals a year. Needless to say we kept busy.

JM Mr. Rocky Bey  (Moonstone Bey V x Madame Muzzy) 3/4 arab,1/4 saddlebred, pictured with me at 4 yrs old

Sorry about the crookedness of the picture. Two yearling colts. Both purebred arabs. The ones in the back are more of our colts/geldings.  The one on the left is JM Triumphant(Hank) Hucks Heritage V x Vellejo Victorie.
On the right is JM Emancipator (Emile) Emanor x Tsabet

This is a purebred arab colt. He is about a week or two old here. His name is JM Sher Khan(Frankie) El Ghazi x Tigresq
Please dont look at me and forgive my "farmer tan" LOL!!

On the left is Madame Muzzy(Madame) She is half saddlebred/half arab (Muzilmaninn x Miss Georgia Ellen)Not sure I spelt her sires name right. On the right is Mini---that was her name--the mini horse.

Ok so I wasnt good with having the pics straight when I scanned them. Sorry about that!
This is a purebred arab mare: JM Tsachet(Tsachet) Bey Shah x Tsabet

I have lots more but I'll make this my last one. On the left is a purebred arab mare Gwizette(Gwizd x Tsabet). Tsachet again on the right.

That 1/4 Saddlebred in the first one really changes the look! Got that gaited horse "look at me" Cat in the Hat thing going on, lol. My friend says my TWH looks like the Cat in the Hat- eyes looking all around, craning neck to look at everyone and everything and a general air of "I'm a superstar." LOL

We currently have 3 horses, One Arabian gelding Spanish bred , and 2 pinto's Mom and son. I have a soft spot for Arabians and offten rescue and rehab ( fatten/Vet) them and rehome them when I have extra cash laying around.. that way I am always "horse broke"
. ( This is Curly Bovine, RIP obviously not a horse he was an rescue and a beloved pet) .

This is Yahtzee. Our leopard appaloosa. I did not get a chance to take pics of the quarter horses. They are somewhat boring, anyway.

My dream horse is a Friesian like Jenni 's horse. I think they are absolutely beautiful. I also like the Andalusian horses, which are similar to the Friesians. I guess I like them all!!!

Thanks for starting this thread, Steph! it is fun sharing our other animals, too.

Jenni,
Rocky was quite the character. He was actually  very layed back.  Nothing bothered him. He was a goofy boy. One morning when I got to the farm I saw Rocky and his half brother(same mother) playing with a paper sack that had blown into their paddock. The rest of the boys were under the run in shed all blowing and snorting like the sack was this great big monster that was there to eat them! LOL!!

When the vet came to worm the herd Rocky thought that he should have all the wormer. We wormed the boys outside in the run in shed where they lived. We would put the halters on them and once they were done, let them go. All of them except for Rocky didnt want nothing to do with the vet once they were free but not Rocky. He tried to take the wormer container out of the vets pocket. We had the vet come and use a container that had enough wormer for multiple horses. It was cheaper and faster that way since we had so many horses to deworm.

I did a web search for Rocky recently and he has had quite the show career. Lots of top wins at half arab shows and National Show Horse shows.

Back in the 80's Rocky's dam, Madame Muzzy, won it all. In her day she was the top winning national show horse of her time. She won Supreme Legion of Merit, which I believe was the top award for a NSH. She took it all in halter and performance classes at the national level. Back then the NSH was a fairly new "breed" and Madame was the epitomy of what a NSH looked and performed like.

Now the show people want the NSH to have much more trot. If Madame was shown in todays shows she would have to shown in hunter/jumper classes. Unfortunately, Madame passed away a couple of years ago. She was in her late 20's.

Davren, your "dream horse" looks more like a Shetland pony right now, LOL. I can't believe the coat he grew this winter- you can't even tell what he is. The sunbleached mane and forelock don't help any. You saw the summer pics...here he is now. Same animal- I swear!

I found this of him when he was first born. Nothing cuter than an awkward colt, IMO.
