Her mother found 4-year-old Ashlynn Anderson in the yard of their home after the attack Sunday afternoon, Clatsop County Sheriff Chief Deputy Paul Williams said Tuesday.
The child was pronounced dead on arrival after she was flown by helicopter to a Portland hospital, Williams said.
The family's two Rottweilers were placed in quarantine, he said.
The dog believed to have bitten the child was 2½ years old, he added.
Ashlynn's stepfather, Jesse Browning, is a logger who appears on the reality show the History Channel describes as a series about "the treacherous life of Pacific Northwest timber cutters."

Rule 1 0 1 never leave a small child with Big Dogs...........................

Once again, irresponsible and/or inattentive parents leaving a small child with large dogs...and tragedy results. WHEN will people learn that Lassie is a fictional character?

Really? You'd think so, but Sabine Davidson's " Rottweiler Murder" case was years ago...and still the same mentality persists. Then, you have the San Francisco case involving a mollossal breed (Corso Canario?)...
You really cannot fix stupid....or irresponsible.

Dogs that are good with children are out there and in great numbers. It is more sensational to write the story of the Rott or Pitt killing/injuring a child than it is to tell about a good old dog that takes care of the kids.
I mean no one cares about my old German Shepherd story of when we moved to South Texas and it was recommended that we get rat terriers to keep the mice population in check. When my 18 mo daughter came out of the house carrying a shoe that the mouser wanted. He started to bark at her playfully, semi-aggressive, and loud. My very old and on his last leg dog Zahn came barreling around the corner of the house, picked up the dog shook him and threw him two feet and stood between my daughter and Zahn and just growled. What is so sensational about that? The dog was doing what he was trained and had instinct to do. No dog or child was hurt that day, not even the ratter. Not BIG news.
That is why peoples perception of dogs is what it is.
IMHO,
