General, lol. Seriously, it is the same word. If you don't believe, check babelfish or any online translator.

Ditto, it's 'general', unless you want to specify a type of general, like oberwurst etc.
Just curious, why do you ask?

PS Wikipedia is a relatively good place to look if you're looking for particular German military info re titles etc

Yeah, I checked Wikipedia, and if you get picky it can be really confusing! I like Field Marshall for title, if you are asking.

muldoon,
can you tell me what Oberwurst is? I am always looking to widen my vocabulary?

GSDBrisko,
there are 4 different general ranks!
1) 1 star - Brigadegeneral
2) 2 star - Generalmajor
3) 3 star - Generalleutnant
4) 4 star - General

Perhaps he meant "Oberst" or Colonel. Oberwurst......new word for me too.

Lol,
Oberwurst - translates ino "above sausage", that's too funny !!
Chris, you got it - exat to the "T". Did Kenny get a hold of you ?
Beetree, no rank "Field Marshall" anymore, this was a rank in the dark times. (Feld Marschall)

Hey Bob, good to see that you are up & kicking..
