I recently noticed some American breeders are breeding their bithces twice a year. Can a SV registered bitch be bred twice in a year in Germany?

Cheers

I never knew they had a rule for females???  I knew they have a rule for studs but its like what 40 breedings? (i dont know for sure, 40 just stuck on)  Breeding a female back to back isnt the worse thing someone can do as long they give the dog 2 heats off, but thats just my opinion....I would prefer to not breed back to back though.

SV says a female can be bred in back to back cycles unless she raised more than 8 pups in her last litter, in which case she needs to skip a cycle (SV rules don't actually specify cycles, they state number of months between breedings but it works out the same in bitches with normal cycles).

GSDMan,
the SV regulates that a female can be used for breeding twice a year, provided she has no more than 8 puppies. If she has 8 or more and raises them all by herself, she will not need to skip a season (technically speaking) but the earliest she can be bred is 6 months after the last litter's birthdate. Mathematically, there would be at least 8 months between the two birthdates of subsequent litters.
Here is the excerpt of the SV Breeding Regulations discussing the subject in German. The whole link to the regulation is: www.schaeferhund.de/site/typo3conf/ext/nf_downloads/pi1/passdownload.php

4.2.2.2 Hündinnen
Hündinnen können in einem Zeitraum von
12 Monaten zweimal zur Zucht verwendet
werden (sofern die Regelungen unter 4.2.4.
nicht betroffen sind).
Hündinnen dürfen in einer Läufigkeitsperiode
nicht von verschiedenen Rüden gedeckt
werden.
....
hierzu in jeder Landesgruppe Ammen-
Vermittlungsstellen. Werden mehr als 8
Welpen bei der Mutterhündin belassen, darf
die Hündin erst nach Ablauf von 6 Monaten
nach dem Wurftag erneut gedeckt werden.
