I guess DVM Pharmaceuticals failed FDA inspections and has been shut down indefinitely. I have been using Synovi G3 Soft Chews for 6 years and now I need to find another Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM supplement. My oldest dog had arthritis at the age of three, but after putting her on the supplement (Synovi), I was able to stop giving Rimadyl, giving the NSAID (Rimadyl) only as needed (usually after a strenuous hike or rough play with another dog). She will be nine next month and looks so much better now than she did at three; she moves gracefully  and still wags her tail as she walks and prances around, people still ask me if she's a puppy. You only see a little stiffness when she's getting up from lying down, and she does have some trouble jumping anything taller than she is. Anyone use a different Glucosamine/ Chondroitin/MSM supplement with good results?

We also used the Hypoallergenic shampoo HyLyt EFA by the same company. For a hypo shampoo, this one actually cleaned instead of feeling like you're washing the dog with just water. It also left a very glossy coat and was supposed to be safe for frequent washing and will not remove topical flea treatments. Anyone have a good hypo shampoo to recommend?

Too bad about DVM.  I used the G3 granules to rehab a shoulder injury on my Ring Malinois a couple of years ago and was amazed at the results.  Besides helping to rehab the injury, it put unbelievable muscle tone on him almost to the point that i was able to cut his food intake in half.  That's really bizarre about them not passing an FDA inspection, I was under the impression that they were the only canine supplement manufacturer that used human grade ingredients.  That's a shame.

I love a combo of Young at Heart and Joint Strong on my old girl.
It has worked wonders for her.

I use Showstopper from

shop.k9power.com/

They have products for all kinds of things.  I feed raw and use Showstopper to hedge my bets and round out the nutrition.  I give hime one scoop although for his size, the dose is two scoops.  I think one scoop is enough.

It also helped tremendously when I thought Pharaoh had allergies (it was actually shredded redwood fir bark on my hillside-a serious irritant) causing him to have thinning fur in certain areas. I gave him two scoops then.   It kept him together until I solved the problem and now I keep it up (1  scoop) because it is fantastic and all human grade.

I noticed that they had products for dogs with hip/joint issues or old age.  I know I will use their products when Pharaoh is an old dog.

I just re-ordered Showstopper and Salmon Oil.

Good luck,

Michele

For joint problems hyaluronic acid serum is good and a natural thing that helps is Evening Primrose oil.As far as the shampoo I didn't look if there was any but I recall seeing it in some site that I order things from.
Good luck!!

In recent months, I have been using Vet Solutions Universal Medicated Shampoo (http://www.amazon.com/Solutions-Universal-Medicated-Shampoo-Gallon/dp/B000OC3ME0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1263501780&sr=8-4) from Amazon.

It's about the best shampoo I've come upon--safe for regular use--leaves a great frangrance--removes scales and crusts--antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. The dogs absolutely glisten after shampooing with this product.

I dilute it about 8:1 with water and apply it to a thoroughly wet dog, lather up with warm water, and leave on 15-20 minutes before rinsing.

After rinsing, a second lather is applied for ~10 minutes before a final rinse, towel drying, and a good job with a blow dryer.

I've had good luck with GlycoFlex III with all of my dogs.  I comes in tablet form that I just throw into their food.  I watch for it to go on sale at either KVVET or Entirely Pets on the net.

Hope they open again soon.  I liked their shampoos, I work in the veterinary field and those are by far the best prescription shampoos.  I also used to get the Synovi G3, until my old dog found the bucket and ate all 280 of them.  She was ok minus the upset GI tract, but she would never eat one of them again after that day, so we had to switch.

Glycoflex III. Actually I used to use Synovi G3 until my oldest (who was 14) began having real back issues and needed the aid of Rimadyl. When we stopped carrying Synovi at the Clinic I switched to Glycoflex III and was very impressed. I actually was able to get her off the Rimadyl for a few months after the switch. Vetri Science has come a long way over the years as far as I am concerned.

I’ve been told that DVM (ostensibly the manufacturer of G3) was bought by Teva (a big pharmaceutical company), which temporarily shut down DVM. I was also told that DVM didn’t actually make G3 themselves. They purchased it from Vitality Systems and relabeled it.

Vitality systems makes Synovial flex, which is an almost identical product. The best price on Synovial Flex that I know of is at fuzzytummy.com.
