any ideas on how to safley get rid of the glue.

It is usually safe to take stitches and staples out about 7 to 10 days after an injury, so I'm pretty sure you are safe to remove the glue. Baby oil might work, give it a try. I often use it or vegetable oil for taking those sticky spots off of merchandise that has had price stickers on them. If that doesn't work, I suggest you ask the doctor what to use, as I wouldn't feel comfortable using anything stronger on a healing wound. The standard remedies like Goof-off, and nail polish remover are a bit harsh on raw tissue!
Although I'm an RN, I've never had a patient with surgical glue, so can't be much help...
Did you have a few too many on New Years, and FDGB* as a result?

Most of these adhesive removal products contain acetone, which is the main ingredient of nail polish remover. If the cut is sufficiently healed, I wouldn't be afraid to give that a try.
