Hello, I have an 8 month old female who is not acting right.  She is normally an energetic food hound.   Yesterday morning, she ate, but not with the usual hearty appetite.  Last night, she didn't want to eat, but we got her to eat a little (maybe a half cup out of 1 1/4 cup serving), and this morning she wouldn't eat at all.  She has been acting lethargic too.  Yesterday afternoon she didn't want to train.  She wasn't exicited to work at all.  I did put her in the backyard with our male to run around and play, which is their favorite thing to do, and they played and wrestled for  awhile.  Today though, she just wants to curl up on the chair and sleep.  When I put her in the backyard to see if she would play, she just growled at our male when he went up to her.  Is there something serious I should be worried about or other symptoms I should be looking for.  Should I be rushing her off to the e-vet, or give her a little more time?

Doesn't sound normal to me.......
Any vomiting?..loose stool?....no stool?....drinking water?
Whenever, something doesn't "look" right.......it usually isn't.
I would follow my gut feeling....and have her checked out by a vet.

No vomiting.  She had a small pile of poop last night, that started out normal and the last little bit was like pudding.  She has taken a couple drinks of water today, but I don't know how much last night while in her kennel because she plays with her water and spills it everywhere.

For sure go to the vet!! Did she get into anything? Maybe swollowed a bone or a chewy? Do you give Greenies cause a friends GSD ate the little dogs greenie and it blocked her up and she was miserable!! Get some xrays done see what is in there. I would walk her on a leash or watch to see if she goes to the bathroom and if it is normal. If a dog that likes to eat isn't that is a first sign that something is wrong. If they aren't having bowl movments that is a bigger red flag!!
Best of luck to you.

I would certainly take her to the vet ,hopefully it will be something simple,a freind of ours got a female pup and she had a simular problem when she was about the same age,a visit to the vet put their minds at rest as the vet checked her thouroughly, gave her an injection to bring her temperature down, the vet thought it may be her first season coming in that pulled her down a little,2 days later they noticed she had started her heat cycle.

I do hope it is something simple and not life threatning,so good luck and please keep us updated.

I know of a female that contracted Giardia at that age.......she became lethargic, not eating, feverish, and drank very little........she needed IV fluids, antibiotics and a special diet for several days........then she was normal.
HOWEVER;.......I personally had a female start to behave the same way.......followed "my" gut feeling.......she had an obstruction that could have been fatal........
Make a vet visit,.....play it safe.

Anytime a pup will not eat, not drink water, acting dull, wants to sleep,  you do not wait, please see a vet ASAP
I hope this helps.
Always,
Cee

Is it possible she was injured during rough play with your other dog ?

Is she on heat ?

Have you taken her temperature ?

Get her to your vet and have her checked out.
