Hello
Ok looking for some advice. My male is 22 months old and weighing in @ 72 lbs.Now I feed  my dogs
TOTW bison formula. They all do well on it  and have to watch when feeding because they will put the weight .
Now my male is kind of a finicky eater. He gets plenty of excercise but he looks thin. What would you add to his
food to help put weight on ?
He gets 3 cups of totw a day and most of the time he'll leave about a cup in dish.
Yes he has been to vet no parisites perfect health.
So what would you add to his food and how much?
Thanks
Steve

We spray vegetable oil on the food it adds calories without adding volume ,it has fatty acids and its very palatable We get the Pro spray bottles from Lowes and spray it on the food that way its not messy to try to measure and pour it

I tried the taste of the wild a while back and had the same issue.

I now use Innova EVO for my working dogs or RAW. Its all natural. Its about as close to raw as a kibble comes as they dont cook the meats before being processed. Its 42% protein 22% fat. carb free. I have had great success with this food. But transition the food over about a week or two cause it is a drastic change being much richer.

I have a 19month old male that eats evo is is blossoming on it. Its a great life stage food.

I have had 2 dogs I just couldnt get weight on and what I would do in those extreme cases would be add noodles or brown rice to there meals. My weight gain mix was 5 cups of evo, 3 cups of brown rice or noodles, and mixing nupro joint supplement into one big slop. I also have went to the local butchers and claimed beef fat to add small amounts before.I have used this twice for rescues who have been severely amancipated but for your dog i would just go to a higher grade food to sustain a healthy weight as dogs have different metabolisms and energy levels just like us.

edit:  also its only about 45$ 30lb bag. once you figure in the difference in feeding and cleanup its no more exspensive than feeding the TOTW.

My dogs did terrible on Taste of the Wild;  remember in earlier posts, the company has been screwing with the formula and it has changed and keeps changing.  Inconsistent;  that can cause some grief to dog owners.

Both my working Shepherds 'leaned out' when they were just on TOTW and I had to start mixing in a puppy food to add in calories.

Finally got tired of feeding up to 6 cups a day to a 57lb female just to keep her in weight.  I've switched foods.

Zigzag, try to add about half a cup of lard, heat it so it does liquify. This is only a short term fix. Longterm it seems that you might need to find a better working food for your boy. I am feeding wellness core now after I went through a tricillion foods. This really helped my girl to a healthy weight. She is a finicky eater as well and looked very skinny. She is getting about 4 cups a day of it to maintain, 2 in am and 2 in the evening. This also doesnt blump her up as much for training as having to feed 6 cups or more of a different food. Yes it is more expensive, but I come with one 26lbs bag around 3 weeks.

Do a search on "SATIN BALLS" ... this has been mentioned before as a great way to help add weight.
