Well, I was board, watching some Discovery channel thing about Sharks, and thought, "Heck, why not make a funny post on the PDB?"

Here it is, a question I post to all of you: Tell a funny story of something "crazy" or "funny" that you've done to achieve a puppy.

I'll start:

Tomorrow morning, I'll be going to get a DDR/Czech and West German Workingline bitch pup. Sounds normal, but this falls only three days after getting not one but TWO surgeries for ingrown toenails, so I'm already hobbling around, and now I'm adding a pup to the mix.

Crazy, yes, stupid, perhaps, but I only have until tomorrow to get her, as the breeder is meeting me half way and wont be down my way for a few months, so it's either pick her up now, or come the full way, many many miles, to get her.

M'kay, your turn guys!

My hubby said we would need a bigger house if we had another puppy, so I came home with another pup and we bought a new house. LOL

Growing up my folks idea of a pet was a goldfish. Of course I always wanted a dog. So on my sweet 16th Bday, my best friend asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I said , "A puppy!, but don't ask my folks, they'll say no. But I know if you show up with one, they won't be able to say no."

What a great friend, she went to the pound, and for $20 they gave her a puppy and in those days who did background checks? She showed up at the party with the cutest fluff bundle wearing a bright blue bow. Instant love. For the whole family, too. Since then everyone in our family is a dog person, we can't live without them, even my mean ol' dad! LOL

My Mother saw me from her kitchen window walking a puppy home from school (I was probably in about second grade)with my sweater around his neck. I came into the house and started in, "Ohhhhh Mom, can I keep him, he just wouldn't quit following me! I tried to make him go home! Really!" She said, "Yeah, I saw how you were trying to make him go home". Don't remember what happened, but I didn't get to keep him!

I brought a mutt bitch home from a gas station.  I stopped late at night one summer night and the attendant (yeah, that long ago) told me to take her home or she would get run over.  He had no idea where she came from.  Cute as could be, little black & wife ball of fluff and ready to boogy.  I took her home, out in the country and let her out of the car, went in and went to bed.  I woke up to the sound of my mother going out the door on her way to work.  It went something like this..."Ohhhh, where did you come from?  Aren't you the cutest little...hey no, don't ruin my hose....BRUCE!  Come out here!. Giggle, giggle."  I fell back to sleep knowing we had another dog and Rascal became my little sister's pet.

Too cute guys! What wonderful stories, I hope others contribute as well!

Didn't get my pup though, the roads were horrible...winter just started and I'm so ready for it to be over!

Going to try for my new little girl on Tuesday, keeping fingers crossed and hoping!

After I lost my old english sheepdog when I was in high school, I was nagging my parents for another dog.  My Dad said, I could only have a gsd pup.  Well I was working at Kmart and could not afford a pure bred so I found a litter of 1/2 shep 1/2 husky pups for $35.  My mom and I drove over and picked out the cutest little pup.  My Dad would not talk to my mother and I for a week.  One day I came home from school and was looking for the pup to let outside and she was gone.  I thought she got out and was looking everywhere.  I few minutes later my Dad walked in with a gallon of paint in one hand and the pup in the other.  From then on Bridgette and my Dad where inseperable.  When I moved out a few years later, he told me it would not be fair to take her as this was her home.  She lived 15 years.  When I had to put her to sleep it was the first and only time I saw my Dad cry.  I have so many beautiful memories of my Dad and Bridgette.  I know she waited for him at rainbow bridge and I am sure it was a wonderful reunion.
